Overall, I think your photos communicate a message, but not necessarily the message that you might want to show. The main thing is that I wish there were more environment things in your pictures so I can tell where they are at. I also wanted to say good job on getting out and walking around to find things, because I know that is probably a lot of work depending on where you live over there. I also want to say that you have a lot of one item pictures, and I think that it’s good to have some of those but maybe just two would work nicely. All your pictures seem to mostly have good camera techniques but it’s just little things in the depth of field area that I would change.
1. In your first pictures, I really like the type of late afternoon light that is shown here. I also love the shadow that the bottle gives off. Maybe a different POV to show us where the bottle is might be better.
2. In this photo I rather see less of the words on the bag but maybe a pile of bags would work better.
3. This one is interesting. I really like how the can is in focus only I wish it were in a different location. I’m imagining like an alley way or a street that maybe you could put that can in front of in order to get a feel as to where that can is. If you choose an alley or street then you can add a greater depth of field so we can tell it’s an alley or street, while also still focusing on the can.
4. In this photo I think the subject is nice, but I rather see more of where it’s at. Maybe there is something like this by one of those cigarette buds stands.
5. I really like this one because of the repetition I can see with the trees in the back. I also like how the trash is in focus and is emphasized.
6. This is a great subject! I love the amount there is here. Maybe more of the environment and location could help.
7. I love this one because it shows the box being on the side of the rode. The focus works really nicely here too, and I like the shadows that are on the box.
8. This one could probably be improved by tilting the camera up a little bit or having a lower angle. Maybe increasing your depth of field so that all the trash is in focus because I feel like the piece towards the front should be.
9. This is a cool location with the brick wall in the background. I kind of like the vibe it gives off. It feels like it’s back in an alley somewhere. If it is, then maybe tilting the camera over to show more of that might be a cool shot.
10. I really like this subject and how the trash is spilling out. The jacket is a cool addition to the photo, and everything is nicely lit. It looks as if the trash cans are on a sidewalk so maybe stand a little to the right or left to angle it so we can see that environment.
11. For this picture, I think I would get rid of it just because it is one thing, and you can’t tell where it is or anything. Other than that, it’s a nice picture, but I don’t think it fits what you’re going for.
12. This one is pretty interesting. It makes you wonder who has been collecting all of that and where they found it. I think I would have a higher aperture, so the other cart is in focus.
13. I like this one because it shows a little location in the back and there is lots of trash. I like the graffiti on the wall because there is a lot of that in major cities and is a good way to show that you’re photographing a city. It makes me think that maybe all of that trash was laying around and someone collected it all.
14.This photo looks interesting. At first, I couldn’t tell what it was but the longer I looked at it, I realized it was a couch with the cushions falling out. I think this is a great subject and could be really cool, I would just position the camera differently. Maybe stepping back or raising the camera higher so we can tell what It is we are looking at. But I love the city in the background with the car and buildings showing.
Hi Ridge!
